On March 28th, 2018; Maria C. Guaracino from Exton PA and SS Philip and James School passed away too soon at the age of 51. What follows may seem like a bunch of cliches, but if you knew her or she touched your life even briefly, you know no words can justly capture the essence of who she was and how she lived life.
As a teacher, she treated every student as if they were her own child and was fiercely loyal to her school. Always listening, encouraging, understanding and trying to bring out the best in each individual while always being honest and genuine.
With her family, she was completely selfless; willing to do anything to ensure their happiness, comfort and safety. There was never a day that she thought of herself first, just unconditional love and acceptance.
Maria chose to be a teacher because it allowed her to touch so many people. Never driven by money, status or material things, she was perfectly happy and proud to be a Catholic School Teacher. There was never a doubt that she could have been anything in the world she wanted, but a simple life serving others and spreading God's word was her path of choice.
She was smart, witty, funny, creative, resourceful, fearless, had an indomitable spirit and was beyond driven to accomplish whatever she set her mind to. An amazing artist; she could draw, paint, carve, wood burn and sculpt all with professional quality. She was an incredible musician who wrote lyrics and music that any recording artist would be proud to put their name on. And when she got to rub elbows or perform with rock stars, she shined and sometimes out shined them. No moment was too big for her. She could have been anything, but chose and enjoyed being a Mom and wife the most.
She left behind her son Eric, husband Joe, sister Lisa Borda Cantwell and Mom Marie Borda and a huge extended family of Aunts, Uncles and cousins who she loved and cherished. She always chose happiness over sadness or depression no matter how dire the situation. She would want everyone to celebrate the life she lived and not lament over her passing. Her faith was strong, she lived a righteous, giving life and fought the good fight. She has surely been welcomed into heaven by her savior Jesus Christ. Rejoice in her life and good deeds.
Viewing is Tuesday April 3rd 6 to 8:30PM at SS Philip and James Church in Exton PA. Also, viewing Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45AM followed by mass of Christian burial at 11AM also at SS Philip and James Church. Burial at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced.
Live your life in such a way that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice. - Navajo proverb
