Kenneth Cahill, Sr. Obituary

KENNETH F. CAHILL was born on January 11, 1940 in Minneapolis, MN, to the late Francis and Thelma (Orstad) Cahill.  Ken grew up in Hinkley MN where he attended Hinkley Elementary and Hinkley High School, where he graduated in 1958. He went into the Navy upon graduation and proudly  served concurrenlty until 1966. His final assignment was at The Marine Corp Supply Center in Philadelphia.  Ken settled in Philadelphia, met and married Rosetta DeStefano. They had four sons:  Kenneth, Steven, Michael and Eric.  In 1968, Ken was accepted by the Philadelphia Police Department, and worked at the 1st Police District, South Police Division,  where he earned numerous Citations and Awards for his dedication and service to the public.  He retired after 35 years of service. Rosetta preceeded him in death in 1989.  He met Barbara (Fay- Buttacavoli) during  his time at the 1st District and they were married in 1995.  Ken then became father to daughters: Charlene, Celeste and Jennifer.  He was an AMVETS Life Member to North Braddock Post #60; PA Past Department Commander; and National District IV Commander. Ken was also a member to the American Legion Post #314, Lehighton.  Ken retired from the Police Dept.in 1996 and retired to Lehighton with his bride, Barbara.  In addition to his 7 children, he is survived by 15 grandchildren, sister, Kathleen Olson (Clel), sister in law, Sr. Maureen Fay C.Ss.T.,  and many nieces and nephews.

  A Celebration of his life is planned as follows:  Friday, November 2nd Visitation 6-8PM at Logan Funeral Home  57 S. Eagle Rd., Havertown, PA 19083. November 3rd, 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at SS Peter & Paul RCC 360 N. Third Street, Lehighton, PA 18235, where friends and family may call from 9-9:45 AM.  Interment SS Peter & Paul  RC Cemetery in Lehighton.  Donations in Ken’s Memory may be made to the  Wounded Warrior Project  PO BOX 758517, Topeka KS 66675  http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
