John P. Kennedy

John P. Kennedy, Jr. of Springfield, PA, passed away peacefully at home on August 22nd. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene Kennedy. Born on September 15, 1936, John grew up in Yeadon, PA as the eldest of three sons.
While attending West Catholic high school, John found his passion- working on the stage crew- designing and building elaborate theatrical sets. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the US Navy where he worked inNaval Aviation.   After his service to his country, John returned to his love of the arts. He studied art and sculpting at the University of the Arts and he graduated with honors. It was throughout this time John met his bride-to-be, Pat (ne: Matsinger) and they were married in November 1963.
 

Pairing his technical expertise and his penchant for business, John spent most of his career in buildings management at Girard Bank, later Mellon, and then Fidelity.
 

John quietly enjoyed life. You could find him spending long summer days at the beach or watching his favorite show, ​MASH​. John loved a good BBQ and was the self-proclaimed grill master. He spent his spare time on home improvement projects and cheering on the Philadelphia Flyers!
But John’s greatest joy was his family. From fifty-six years of marriage came six children and twelve grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife Patricia (nee Matsinger) Kennedy.  Loving Father of John (Amy), Jennifer (Joseph) Kissinger, Joseph, Patti Anne (Joseph) Lewis, Chad (Jessica), Gregory (Kristy) Kennedy.  Also survived by 12 grandchildren.  Brother of Thomas (Evelyn) and Gerald ( Sally).  Brother-in-law of Sr. Marie Claire, IHM. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM Tuesday, Aug. 27th at St. Kevin's Church, 200 W. Sproul Rd, Springfield, PA  19064 where friends may call 9:30-10:45 AM at the Church.   

Interment Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers family prefers contributions made to Camilla Hall, 1145 King Rd, PO Box 100, Immaculata, PA  19345.
