John J. "Jack" Bott, of Swarthmore, formerly of Yeadon, passed away on Oct. 7, 2019 at the age of 83. Former American Airlines employee.
The life of the party, who loved fishing, hunting and being in the sun. He cherished his time in Wildwood, referring to himself on the bike as the “Silver Bullet”, after painting the bike silver.
He made it well known that his priority was his bride. Always concerned about recovering from an illness to take care of her – and he recovered from many. When he was not at home with Mom, he called her multiple times a day; then, he would grill us about what she had eaten and about what was going to be her next meal. We all knew to allow extra time when the love birds would not be together, as they would go back and forth when it was time to leave, “Goodnight Sweetheart. I love you more. I love you more”.
He loved watching sports. God forbid you stepped in front of the TV!
He had a green thumb; and, could name every flower. His red rose bush surely was a pride point.
The feeding tube didn’t stop him from joining the party – especially after the doctor blessed putting a shot of whiskey down the tube.
His favorite dance was the twist and he enjoyed listening to standards. One of his favorites was by Louie Armstrong: “I see trees of green, red roses too. I see them bloom for me and you. And I think to myself what a wonderful world.”
Our Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend surely will be missed. “WE love you more.”
Beloved Husband of Joan (nee Starks) Bott. Loving Father of John J. "Jack" Bott, Debbie (John) Barrett, and Kathy (John) Moran. Grandfather of John Thomas, Daniel, Kaitlyn, and Paige. Brother of the late Nancy Perret and Charles "Buddy" Bott.
