Gertrude M. "Trudy" (nee Ream) Callahan, age 85, passed on March 30, 2019. Formerly of Yeadon and Bellefont, PA. Loving wife of the late Gerald Patrick Callahan. Predeceased by her mother Margaret Blazina and father Ralph Ream, sister Dorothy Ream Shay, her cats "Miss Ellen" and Clancey, and other family and friends. She is survived by many loving friends and caregivers.
Born in Bellefont, PA she spent her last 11 years at St. Francis Country House in Darby. She had many careers, including the owner, along with her husband, of a neighborhood dry cleaning store on 58th Street in Southwest Philadelphia called Callahan's One hour Cleaner. In later years, she belonged to St. Louis Parish in Yeadon and then St. Philomena Parish in Lansdowne. She also did clerical work at different locations.
She was a Volunteer at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital, a member of the Delaware County Pro Life and a member of the Legion of Mary.
She was kind, sweet, non-judgmental, with a good sense of humor; and loved her faith. She was known for her fashionable wardrobe, her beautiful smile, love of jewelry and always wore a bright flower in her hair. She was successful in her life overcoming her disability and she lead a productive life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass Friday 11:00 AM at St. Francis Country House Chapel,1412 Lansdowne Ave., Darby, PA 19023, where friends may call from 10:00 AM Friday in the chapel. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family prefers contributions to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, C/O St. Philomena Church, 41 E. Baltimore Ave, Lansdowne, PA 19050.
