He was raised in Media and attended school in Rose Tree Media School District until transferring to William Penn Charter School in 1972-73 school year where he graduated in 1975. At Penn Charter, Dave stood out as an All-state swimmer.  He was also captain of the Varsity Cross Country Team and a member of the Quakers Dozen, a premier acapella group.  According to classmates, he was always smiling. Upon his graduation from high school Dave was offered a swimming scholarship to Duke.  After a year at Duke, Dave decided to join the Air Force.  He rose to the rank of Staff  Sergeant before being honorably discharged on the 20th of July 1983.

After his time in the Air Force, Dave attended Penn State University in State College, PA where he graduated in 1989 with Honors and a BS in Math. After graduation he found employment with EDS in Boston, MA and Denver, CO, where he worked until 1997 when he joined Exelon Energy in Pennsylvania.  He was an avid sports fan who especially loved the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State Nittany Lion Football (never missed a game).  Also loved golfing, crossword puzzles and craft beer.
