Thomas R. Finnegan

Thomas Richard Finnegan, Sr. passed away at age 83 on May 2nd. He was married to Kathleen Theresa (Richards) who predeceased him in 2009. His death occurred on what would have been their 51st wedding anniversary.

He had been fighting cancer for over a decade before he finally passed surrounded by his five children; Tommy (Jan), Joey (Joy), Jimmy (Stephanie), Sean (Kathy), and Kathleen Kapusniak (Brian) and his eight grandchildren; Riley, Joey, Chris, Jimmy, Jake, Emma, Erin, and Abby in Ridley Park, PA.  He was the brother to the late Nan, Jimmy, Billy, Mary, Johnny, Jane, Patsy, Suzie, Donald and Emily.

He was born the tenth of eleven children to parents Mary (Grimes) and James John on April 4, 1938. He was born in the Devil’s Pocket of South Philadelphia and raised in Grays Ferry. They were a tight family that helped each other through tough times. He went on to become a teamster for 26 years and a bartender later in life. An entertainer at heart, he loved to “Stir the pot.”  His side of the bar was always a party.

He was married to the love of his life, Kathleen for 39 years before her untimely passing in 2009. Kathleen and Tom raised five children in Southwest Philly. In their later years, they moved to Glenolden, PA. He was Pop-Pop to his eight grandchildren and was there for them whenever he was needed, always sneaking little presents to them. He will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation on Friday evening 6:30 – 8:30 PM at Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd, Broomall, PA  19008.   A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, May 8th at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Dr, Secane, PA  19018. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tom's life.

Interment Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
