Thomas W. Marx, age 75, a longtime resident of Exton, PA, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side on Monday, February 1, 2016, at Paoli Memorial Hospital, after a long battle with cancer.

Mr. Marx was born in Pottsville, PA and was the son of the late Anthony and Hazel Harris Marx.  He was the devoted husband of Laverne Steranko Marx for over 58 years and the beloved father of Mary Ann Michnuk Bugge (Glen), Thomas S. Marx (Linda), Tina M. Schwandt (Karl), James M. Marx (Janet), and Sharon L. Malasics (Rich).  Tom was one of 10 children, his siblings were John, Butch, Joe, Kenny, Barbara, Bernadette and the late Max, Bobby and Junie.  He will be sadly missed by all, especially his 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Thomas proudly served our country in the United States Navy.  After he was discharged, he worked at Boeing, in the quality control division as well as Carson Pettit and Road Machinery as a mechanic.  He went on, in 1978, to become the owner/operator of Tom's Countryside Gulf Station, he also owned Eagle Auto and Truck Parts and Eagle Hardware Store.  He was a devout member of SS. Philip & James Church for 52 years, and since the mid 90's, a member of the Lionville Lions Club.  With the Lions, he was named a Melvin Jones Fellow, he served as Past-President and was on the board of directors.   He was in charge of their calendar and poinsettia sales and the picnics.  His fellow Lions will always remember the breakfasts he cooked for their bass tournaments.  He loved the outdoors.  Some of his favorite times were spent fishing, hunting, golfing and relaxing at his mountain home with his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing being held at Logan Funeral Home, 698 E. Lincoln Hwy., Exton, PA  19341 on Saturday morning from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at SS. Philip & James Church, 107 N. Ship Rd., Exton, PA  19341.  Interment will follow  at Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer, PA.  Memorial donations may be made to the above named Church or Lionville Lions Club, c/o Harry Shreiner, 43 Churchill Rd., Elverson, PA  19520-9245.
